"Seven Castles" is a sophisticated real-time multiplayer board game that revolves around strategic tile placement to construct castles, roads, or cloisters. Players score points by successfully completing these structures, provided they have placed a follower on them.

To begin playing, users can log in via Game Center or their Facebook account. With Game Center, players' aliases are displayed during gameplay, whereas logging in through Facebook will show their Facebook name.

Upon logging in, players enter the Lobby area, where they can view a list of currently online users and ongoing games. Here, players have the option to invite others to join a game or participate in existing unlocked games. For newcomers, it is advisable to engage in a Demo game prior to diving into competitive play.

The game features several versions reminiscent of classic Carcassonne mechanics:

• Base Game: 72 tiles, 7 meeples
• Expansion 1 - Inns and Cathedrals: 90 tiles, 7 meeples, 1 giant

In the "Seven Castles" variant, players construct castle walls, rivers, and fields. The options include:

• Castles Mini: 37 tiles, 5 meeples
• Castles: 70 tiles, 7 meeples
• Double Castles: 140 tiles, 12 meeples
• Castles Plus: 100 tiles, 9 meeples

The "Narrow Sea" mode allows for the construction of citadels across land and sea with the following configurations:

• Sea Base: 74 tiles, 4 meeples, 3 ships
• Sea Expansion 1: 108 tiles, 4 meeples, 1 giant, 3 ships
• Sea Expansion 2: 108 tiles, 4 meeples, 4 ships

The smaller game formats are available for free play; however, players may purchase credits within the game to access larger games. Notably, only completed games will deduct credits from a player's account. If the host of a game exits before it concludes, no credits will be lost.

The gameplay operates on a turn-based system. When it is your turn, the tile assigned to you appears in the bottom right corner of the screen. Players can place their tile by tapping on the board to ensure proper alignment with adjacent tiles. Zoom functionality is available through pinch gestures or zoom buttons. A rotation feature allows players to adjust their tile's orientation appropriately.

To claim an area—be it a city, castle, road, cloister, or field—players must place one of their meeples by selecting a red circle on the tile. Following this action, hitting 'Submit' will prompt a verification process to ensure that the tile placement is valid and that the selected entity has not already been occupied.

Points are awarded when players complete an entity they occupy during the game. If multiple players share occupancy of an entity (e.g., a city), the player with the most meeples will receive the points. The game concludes once all tiles have been placed. At this point, additional points are awarded for any uncompleted entities based on their respective scoring rules specific to each game type.
